Hey Atif thanks for reviving the Blog. It did seem desolate for a long time with literally just one post this summer.
And our ever-so-diminishing readers, with a new look and a cheek title we are back again.
This summer for me was one of the most uneventful ones. I did go to India, my home place Mangalore where I spent the most pleasant phase of an otherwise bleak summer 2008.
SO I shall begin with it.
Oh yes, traveling to M’lore was no less than an ordeal. That’s because the only intl flight that connects Dubai with Mangalore is our very own Air India...Now you may have guessed why I called the traveling part ordeal.
M’lore is a city that has a lot of potential and is developing rapidly. It’s a nice place to live, the beaches are amazing, the food is very good, the roads suck though.
Changes I saw in M’lore:
- Newly built factory outlet stores of Levi’s, Nike, adidas, reebok, MTV, etc….right across the street where I live.
- Prices of snacks at the multiplex multiply….this is what they meant by food crisis I suppose! A burger over there which cost 30 Rs. last year is now worth 40Rs! And they haven’t spared the colas either, with half a liter bottle costing 45Rs! The above mentioned change made me guess that they were my last visits to the cinemas...
But that wasn’t exactly the case…watched as many as 5 movies in a span of 28 days and that too …..not without buying those yummy burgers that I simply cant resist.
-a noticeable increase in the sex ratio
-hah! New Hindi radio stations thanks to which I didn’t miss Dubai much
Meeting my relatives and family friends was the one thing I was eagerly looking forward to. I met every one of them and spent a lot of time with them. My techy cousin taught me a few computer tricks. And as always I never had enough of his jokes. He is the funniest cousin in the world.
I had the usual trips to the temples, and sacred places. I got to eat a lot of things that I usually don’t get to here in dxb. And Atif, thanks for keeping in touch with me through the phone. I have a lot of stuff to tell you….new jokes to share…new tales to narrate...etc.
Unfortunately I couldn’t get my hands on the royal challenger jersey, this despite the fact that there are as many as two Reebok stores in M’lore. The reason being low demand! It was ironic to know that the knightriders jerseys were sold out within hours.
I have some pics to share which I will in the forthcoming post.
Squeeze!
